UNIT SEVEN

The song Unit Seven written by bassist Sam Jones and recorded by Cannonball Adderley Quintet.

Rodger Fox suggests using the original version as the first reference point but the band / musicians should pursue different approaches to the tune such as the following YouTube clip version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08rI4Wwh-AI

The YouTube clip features Steve Weingart - Piano, Dave Weckl - Drums, Eric Marienthal – Saxophone, and Carlitos Del Puerto – Bass.

Focus on New Zealand compositions

This year we would like to encourage students to write original compositions and for music leaders to consider New Zealand compositions in their performance programme. To this end Rodger Fox has made available Big Band charts of NZ composers including Sir Dave Dobbyn, Six Sixty, LAB and others.
